Concert of Chamber ensemble "Silhouettes"
Chamber ensemble ”Silhouettes” and the flute player Martin Pavlow invite you to a concert in which they will present three contrasting pieces from the classical repertoire. The concert will be on the 12th of June at 19 o'clock in the hall of City Mark Art Center in Sofia. The program includes the second Piano quartet from W. A. Mozart in an intriguing arrangement with clarinet. The center of the evening will be the long awaited Bulgarian premiere of the piece ”The Four Temperaments” by acad. Vassil Kazandjiev, dedicated to Chamber ensemble ”Silhouettes”. The piece is composed in four movements, each of which represents the character of one temperament – sanguine, melancholic, phlegmatic and choleric. The concert will finish with the brilliant and beautiful romantic music of Antonin Dvorak – premiere arrangement of his Piano quintet №2, op. 81, performed with flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello and piano.

Soldier Tale by Igor Stravinsky
The talented director Kole Kitanov, the actors Mila Kitanova and Alexander Yordanov, and the musicians from the Silhouettes Chamber Ensemble present to the audience of the City Mark Center for Art the musical-stage work of Igor Stravinsky "The Story of the Soldier" (1918). The timeless messages that music and lyrics convey to us over time have long ago turned the work into a masterpiece. The performance is a unique combination between a musical concert and a puppet theater, which intertwine and complement each other on stage. The music in the show is the magic that revives the plot like a magnifying glass, through which the inner torments of the characters are focused. The story is about a poor soldier and the devil's intervention in his fate. The wicked lurk and tempt him, as he tempts us all. Overwhelmed by poverty, the soldier sells his soul, embodied by the violin, to the devil, and this brings him wealth, but not happiness. He manages to change the course of his destiny by returning the violin stolen from the devil, with the help of his self-confidence, courage and determination.
The dolls in the show are the work of Ilina Stefanova, and the translation of the text from Russian is by Plamen Beikov.
